The Chelsea Spa and Clinic is a beauty sanctuary, devoted to beauty and well being. I was treated to a lovely morning of pampering by the lovely Melanie, who was not only my beauty therapist but the owner of The Chelsea Spa and Clinic. I received the crème de la crème of treatments, custom made to what my skin needed and my current beauty concerns.
We started what was to be an amazing chain of events with Body Sculpting using the Alma Accent laser machine with Glycerine. Glycerine is a humectant that can be naturally derived from plant oils. It was used as a protective layer to prevent moisture loss. She did this because my skin was inflamed and dry and it would help balance my skin before Melanie started with the facial.
She then double cleansed, first with Dermalogica Pre cleanse and then with Skin Creamery Oil Milk cleanser. The oil milk cleanser is organic and non-irritating and completely removes the glycerine.
My skin was then toned with Dermalogica botanical extracts using a rubbing technique to remove superficial dead skin cells.
Melanie then used Lamelle Cathepzyme 2, which is an enzyme exfoliator with micro current for a gentle but deep exfoliation and used Lamelle Beta plus peel 20% on my T Zone as I suffer from rosacea.
Because I have been getting dark circles under my eyes, we then did a Carboxy CO2 treatment around my eyes to treat the dark circles. Carboxy therapy is said to work simply by tricking the body, as by injecting a small amount of carbon dioxide gas into the area, it will increase the dispatch of oxygen laden red blood cells to the area to pick up the new ‘waste’ carbon dioxide which the body will then naturally eliminate via the lungs over time. By increasing the amount of oxygen getting to the area the cells will become more active and thus speed up any healing or new cell production required to rejuvenate the area. There is no down time needed after having this treatment and was painless (I’m not the biggest fan of needles). Its been 10 days now since the Carboxy CO2 treatment and I can definitely see a dramatic improvement under my eyes, I don’t look so tired anymore.
Melanie then used the Image Biomolecular hydrating recovery sheet mask on me. This mask was developed to increase delivery of active ingredients and to lift, brighten and deeply hydrate the skin.
This was followed by an amazing massage with Decleor’s intense relaxing massage Balm with natural essential oils that calms and helps relieve tensions.
She then used Dermafix Copper serum for accelerated wound healing together with Dermafix Vitamin C serum, to strengthen the capillary walls and finished off with Image Prevention Daily tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 for lasting hydration and antioxidant defence with zinc oxide.
Like I said crème de la crème…
The Chelsea Spa and Clinic is the sole agent in the Western Cape to provide the “Mona Lisa”, the very latest in a new generation of laser machines offering a therapy for women who up until now faced a void if they wanted to restore sexual function or alleviate incontinence.
Used to treat vaginal laxity, discomfort and incontinence in a painless, discreet and cost-effective way, the Mona Lisa is alone in its class in Cape Town with a 360o beam yielding greater accuracy than its predecessor’s limited 90o range. Scientists and specialists in Italy have found that laser therapy eliminates the cost, inconvenience and anxiety of surgery.
This long-awaited support is available in a 5-minute, elective treatment without side effects or downtime and is carried out by a medical doctor at the Chelsea Clinic and Spa. It’s a safe, fast and painless treatment which is effective immediately, with results improving dramatically after each of the recommended three initial visits.
They really do offer it all, looking forward to my next appointment.
