There’s nothing better than going on a little getaway with some of your favourite people 🙂 and if you can find a place that’s exquisitely beautiful then you are winning on all levels. Our choice for our latest getaway was a ‘West Coast Road Trip’ to the gorgeous seaside/lagoon town called, Langebaan. It’s situated about 1 hour 20 minutes from Cape Town along the R27 or West Coast Road as its more aptly known which really is a stunning drive. Even though we’ve been having the worst drought in years, the hills were still green and the ocean was still blue and if you head up the route during spring time then the rolling hills are usually covered in beautiful flowers which makes for an even better drive. Langebaan is jam packed with things to do like sailing, kite-surfing, kayaking and waterskiing, golfing, horseriding, fishing, cycling and so much more so it’s really great for people with kids and without kids. With it being Winter, we thought that we were going to have miserable weather all weekend but it seems that the sun Gods were shining down on us and everyday was warm and sunny which was just delightful.
I get so excited when I find new things to try and my latest obsession is Chinese tea 🙂 and the more I’ve been researching it, the more I love the whole thing. Chinese tea culture is rooted deep in tradition, family, respect and daily life which I find so wonderful. I found a really amazing brand called ~ Jasmine Tea Mill ~ at my local Chinese supermarket (so I was convinced it must be good ~ haha) and to be honest with you I didn’t even know where to start because there are just so many variations to choose from!
I’ve often found myself saying…..”I wish I started looking after my skin better when I was much younger….” and I’ve come to learn that as much as one should start looking after their skin from as young an age as they can, that it’s never too late to start! I had the privilege of going trough a 3 month skin rejuvenation program with Libi Roos and my skin has never felt better. Libi is from Vredehoek in Cape Town and was recommended to me by some friends of mine who have been going to her for years and have also said that they now can’t live without her TLC. I want to run you through my treatments from start to finish so you can see how I got to my final result….which I’m ecstatic with 🙂
For those of you who don’t know me all that well, I have to tell you that I’m absolutely obsessed with all things fashion. Clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup and great hair….you name it~ I LOVE IT! They all form key parts to creating the perfect look and when you have the nack of putting them all together like you’ve been hit with the magic wand of a Hollywood stylist then you probably deserve a spot at New York Fashion Week ~ haha!
To say I’m over the moon about my new fabulous brows would be the understatement of the century!! Let me start from the beginning…
I’ve always had a feeling that my eyebrows were just a tad off balance. So when I heard about the new latest craze called 6D Microblading hitting the shores of SA I knew I had to try it out. It’s a process whereby they use micro blades to make small incisions in your skin which they then fill with pigment to create a line that actually looks like hair. It’s semi permanent because they use pigment rather than ink and it lasts around 1 – 3 years depending on your skin and how you look after them. You can also go in and have a little refresher done should you feel you need to as time goes by.
I had my consultation with the wonderful Charlie from The Urban Beauty Lounge in Wembley Square who have partnered up with Vogue Lash & Brows, and all the while we were chatting the numbing cream was working it’s wonders on my brows so that I would be comfortable throughout my treatment. Before I knew it I was lying down with a ruler across my forehead while she measured me out and centered me up so she could tell where my eyebrows really should be…. in an ideal world. LOL!
Once I had all my markings done we made sure that we were both 100% happy with everything and so it began…
Firstly she chose between a few pigments and found one that was the best match to both my natural eyebrow hair and also the most flattering on my skin. She wiped the numbing cream off one brow, picked up her magic wand and we started the Microblading.
I was amazed that I could barely feel anything bar a little bit of scratching and pressure where the blade was pressing against my skin. Charlie also made sure that when she was working on one brow that the other brow still had the numbing cream on and she topped this up often.
It felt like it all went by in a flash and I could barely contain my excitement when she wiped off the excess pigment and said we were done. Even though I was a bit red and swollen, my brows were perfectly aligned and my arches were like something out of a beauty campaign.
I was then given my debriefing for lack of a better word ~ haha. I was told to keep my brows dry for 5 days post treatment and I was given something called “Barrier Cream” to apply from the 5th day onwards. I was also told that there may be some flaking of the areas but I didn’t have much which was fabulous. She then told me that I had to come back and see her after 4 weeks for my “touch up” session where she filled in any little areas that needed it after my healing process.
Prices vary from salon to salon but at The Urban Beauty Lounge it costs R2500 for the first session and then the 4 week touch up is R1250. I know it sounds a tad expensive but please trust me that it’s definitely worth the spend!
I feel like a million bucks after all said and done and would ABSOLUTELY recommended this to anyone and everyone looking to feel the same.
Here’s to raising eyebrows in the best way possible!!!
Much love 😉

So we all know that sheer panic one feels when the days start getting ever so slightly warmer and the clothes we need to start wearing in our wardrobe start showing a little more skin…..it means….SUMMER IS COMING! I tell myself every year that I’m going to do things differently, get my summer body ready in winter blah blah and always seem to land up wishing I’d stuck to my plan a tad more ~ haha! But then I remind myself not to panic.
